Everyone is resigning from OpenAI (but not really). Both Iya Sutskever, OpenAI’s longtime chief scientist and co-founder, and Jan Leike, co-leader of OpenAI’s Superalignment team, announced they left the company on Tuesday. Two days later, X users are adding fuel to the fire. After Sutskever and Leike’s announcements on X, the phrase “resigned from openai” began trending on the social media platform with hundreds joining in on the trend. The reasons behind Sutskever’s and Leike’s departures remain unknown, creating ample opportunity for netizens to fill X with their own speculation and memes.
